Qur?an, meaning ‘recitation’, is the sacred text of Islam. Muslims believe it is the true recitation of God, revealed to the Prophet Mohammed by the angel Jibril (Gabriel). The text is believed to be divine in origin, and must be in Arabic, for any translation would only be an interpretation.
